2012 coming

Greatings to all who made it past 2011 trials. Hope the info on the blog helps out since it is timeless.

Handy hints

For a lock to function properly you need to make sure that you also look after it properly. A lot of people do the mistake of pouring all sorts of oils into locks to try and make the mechanism smooth, but what actually ends up happening is that the lock works for a few days then the oil starts to to dry, and when oil dries it dries and gather dust at the same time. springs and levers start to stick and lock jamming is inevitable. Next issue will give tips of what to do.

Time

Who said time is only counted in days or years. Seeems like its beeen two days since I last wrote on the blog but the date on my last post and now will prove against me. Well I got a new concept lets count time in periods instead. That should work in everyones favour. Hope you still trading fairly. Reminder to every locksmith is always do the best you can to make sure you provide the best way to secure anyone you provide services to and no short cut since their security lies in a bunch of keys

Locksmith request to Lock and keys Manufacturers

Well since the topic says Locks in general that means any industry involved with locks and keys will have to be discussed. One thing that gets to a technician or a key cutter is not getting the right key blank to either duplicate or worse cut a key from lock without a sample. Well I understand there are high security keys that have to have blanks taken stock of but I am talking of a normal standard mortise, tumbler or padlock. It makes me feel bad having to tell a customer to buy a new lock just because I can’t duplicate his key, in a few instances it does sound like you want to reap off the guy but you will be trying to help. So as for Lock manufacturers it is actually wiser to manufacture extra key blanks for locks before the Locks are put on the shop display or even better before delivering to the Locksmith Suppliers warehouse, because lets face it, keys do get lost or in many instances you need spare keys especially for main entrance doors.
